September 27, 200916 yr I've seen screenshots where aircraft self-shadowing and the plane's shadow on the runway/apron are quite a bit darker than mine (more contrast). Is there a place to tinker with this or is it a function of one's system and video card? Thanks.John
September 27, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hi John, no you can't, it all depends on the current visibility. For example, if there's 10mi vis reported, then the shadows won't be very apparent, but under a 50mi vis, the shadows will be much darker.Hope this helps. September 27, 200916 yr I can't say for the programming side of things, but what you describe can happen when you use "Auto Levels" in Photoshop. A lot of people Photoshop their screenshots. For that matter FSX doesn't use the widest possible gamma (range of dark pixels to light pixels), so Photoshop can correct this. You can also change the gamma values using the software for your video card, but those effects will be global across your system (unless you program an exception file for FSX - maybe some folks do!).EDIT: Rather than a way to tinker with the intensity of shadows, I would also love to see a way to get at the shadow colour. Shadows are a lot of things, but they are seldom grey as in FSX. Well, it would be cool to be able to adjust intensity and colour. Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM
