HDE, ASG v6.x, FE, FEX, GE Clouds

Featured Replies

You know, I've been reading post after post here about cloud replacement textures and it seems that everything is replacing everything else. So really, (at least I think), the biggest question here is not so much which one is the best because that is really subjective but...1) How to replace one set of textures with another set...exactly which files are to be replaced2) How to make sure that the same set of textures are used until you want to use something else no matter which after market program you're using. That way if you are using ASG 6.x, FE, FEX, GE, or HDE one can be sure of exactly where to replace the textures in both FS9 and the specific texture app so at flight time, you know which clouds are actually being loaded! For instance, I've read about a huge number of people using ASG 6.x with FE textures but still have not seen anyone actually nail down which folders to put textures in so that ASG will use them on a submit to FS9. Maybe Jim has answered this in his forums...Mark

Hi Mark,Each texture program stores it's own textures.None of the textures gets installed into ASG, but the ASG textures, and those are the only textures AS chooses from using the Wx Influenced option. Now it is up to the individual user to choose which textures to use in FS.With FS closed, a user loads the textures they want and then they start FS. If duplicate textures are loaded into FS, the last ones loaded will be used. Thanks,

Really? So even though I run GE pro, FE and Active Sky, And I run through a wideFS network. And I have the wx influenced box check in AS.You mean to tell me that FE isn't used at all? That would explain alot I guess.

I always thought that AS only loads cirrus clouds everytime, and for the others, you must load them by going through ASG

OK to our 2 posters since my last post:1. FE is not being used unless you have opened FE and submitted textures. And you have probably over-written the FS textures in FS is you ran AS after you ran FE. Remember everyone, there is quite a bit of overlap between these products and in many cases the last program run is the textures that show up in FS.2. Well, yes and no all depending how you have things set up on the options page of AS.I'll check back tomorrow to see if there are any other questions about this. Thanks,
