October 4, 200916 yr Hi;I flew several test profiles this evening with ASA while monitoring the temps with FSUIPC. What I saw...with several default acft and the PMDG JS41 and RealAir Duke...was a clustered group of 1 deg C temp changes every few seconds as the acft approached the altitudes for which data is reported. For example, the temp at takeoff was 23 deg C...the temp did not change until approaching 3000 ft, at which time it ratcheted the temp down in one degree increments once every few seconds until it was at 14 deg C, which approximated the 13.4 deg reported at 3000 ft. Approaching 5000 ft in the climb, it ratcheted again, down to 10 deg C (reported was 9.4 deg). Near 11000 ft, it ratcheted down to -3 deg. There is no interpolation or smooth lapse occurring with changes in altitude...just these fairly large step-function changes in temp from one datapoint to the next. Is that how ASA is designed to work? I see a steady stream of data flowing across the LAN from my remote installation of ASA and FSX.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
October 4, 200916 yr Hi Bob,I am really not sure about this. I know we try and smooth the winds data, but the temp. data I don't know. It may be a few days, but I'll try and find out for you. Thanks,
October 5, 200916 yr Author Hi Bob,I am really not sure about this. I know we try and smooth the winds data, but the temp. data I don't know. It may be a few days, but I'll try and find out for you. Thanks,Jim; I ran a SimConnect trace and the temperature data is definitely coming into FSX the way I see it via the set commands coming from ASA. I'm not completely sure it's a substantive issue...will have to do more testing. More importantly, I found what looks to be an error in the global weather set commands ASA is doing...highlighted in bold in my post in the thread "False TAT temperature indication with PMDG MD-11" in this forum. The temp and dewpoint in the last (highest) layer look like they've been omitted from the METAR string...I have a hunch this could be part of the bigger problem with rogue temps at cruise that some folks are seeing.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
