Missing C-47?

Featured Replies

I recently bought and installed the MAAM-SIM R4D/DC3/C-47 package (downloaded) along with the FSX upgrade to allow the package to work with FSX. I do NOT have SP2 or the Acceleration pack, so I did not install the transparency fix. So far, no problems with any transparencies (gauges, windows) except that the Astrodome on the R4D's is missing- a known issue. My problem is that one of the MAAM Aircraft folders has two aircraft in it, but only one of them is available to fly. The C-47 Air Drop Cargo folder's aircraft.cfg file has an RAF Dakota (YS-DM, KG374) under [fltsim.0] which works fine, and also a USAF 'Berlin Train' C-47 labeled 'Operation Vittels' (sic) under [fltsim.1] which isn't available at all in FSX.Checking the aircraft.cfg file, the only difference between the two configuration entries (other than title and description) is that the [fltsim.0] section shows "texture=" and the [fltsim.1] section shows "texture=tbt".Just for grins & giggles, I commented out the "tbt" and ran FSX... sure enough, the second aircraft ('Berlin Train') showed up to be selected! Unfortunately, it was an exact duplicate of the first- the RAF Dakota, not the USAF C-47 that the title and description said it was. So I uncommented the 'tbt' and came here for help.Anybody got a clue how I can magically resurrect the 'Berlin Train' C-47 in such a way that it doesn't sport RAF rondels? Big%20Grin.gif Do the stalwart Brits know that we stole one of their Dakotas and put it on display at Rein-Main as a C-47, hoping the Germans wouldn't notice the insignia and other markings? If this is a known issue, I can't find anything about it here or on the MAAM-SIM website. Thanks

Easy explanation for this one - I goofed and included the wrong aircraft.cfg file when putting together this installer. The Berlin Train is a repaint that was never intended to be part of the package. No one, including me, has ever noticed this one before, or commented on it, anyway. If you want this plane, just download it from our Free Stuff Page and install.

Okey Dokey, thanks. The only reason I noticed it at all was that I added a panel addon specifically for the MAAM-Sim R4D package, and the panel installation instructions specified that I had to edit ALL of the aircraft.cfg files to (a.) specify that one or the other of the added panels was to be used, and which one- Gyro or HSI; and (b.) properly label the aircraft in the description so I could tell from within the simulator which panel each a/c had. I didn't just randomly go poking through the files. I spent hours trying to figure out why the Berlin Train aircraft wouldn't show up before coming here and asking about it.

OK, I will, and thanks for the info. The MAAM-Sim R4D package is truly a work of art, and well worth the small price for anyone who loves the old Gooney Birds.
