GPU or Ram

Featured Replies

So I am looking at two EVGA cards. One is a 512MB with a 771 mhz GPU and the other is a 1GIG with a 702 GPU speed? which is better for fs9? and will I see a difference in visual proformace with a 512MB with a higher GPU speed or a 1GB with a lower GPU speed? thanks

If you tell use what cards specifically they are, we can be more helpful. If they are the same cards with just different memory amounts, you can always overclock the 1Gig card.

Will I see a difference in fs9 from a 1GIG to a 512MB? Cause I was told that focus more on GPU then ram ammount, is that true; because the 512MB is well enough?? what I was told.

Well, it depends how you run your sim. Unless you're flying with a huge resolution with high AA and AF settings along with very complex scenery and high res clouds, you'll probably see a benefit, maybe not even FPS but smoothness. But besides that, I doubt it. I'm currently running a 512mb 8800GTS and not planning to upgrade till I get a whole new computer. I'd say with 4 gigs of memory and a 512mb card, all you can do from there is push up your CPU clocks.Again, you can always overclock a video card as well, and its fairly easy to increase clocks by 10-20% depending on the card.
