Win 7 64bit & FSX

Featured Replies

Hi, anyone here running Win 7 64bit & FSX with only 2GB of memory?I haven't yet installed my Home Premium copy which arrived the other day as I only have 2GB of PC6400 DDR2 memory (with Core2 Duo E7400 on Gigabyte EP-31 DSL, plus Geforce 9600GT 512MB). I'm wondering whether I should wait until I can up the memory to 4GB, which will cost me minimum of 50 UK Pounds, possibly 80UK pounds. Just wondered how it would perform in the meantime. Thanks.Iain Smith

Windows 7 is a better choice than Vista given the amount of memory you have. If you are indeed running Vista, don't wait. Update.

Running XP Home 32 bit so does that change things or would the move still be worthwhile?Iain Smith

2GB RAM is the minimum requirement for the 64 bit. It will definitely give you a marked improvement over the XP 32bit with 2GB of RAM. One great thing about the 64 bit version is that it manages memory much better than the 32 bit and you should get the infamous out of memory errors like with the 32 bit and you won't have to enable the /3GB switch. You'll still get crashes though if you turn your settings up too high until you can afford more memory. Go for it!Best regards,Jim
