Topographical Detail Upgrade

Featured Replies

I got an email with an advertisement from Abucus for "USA Extreme Landscapes " and it made me think about how great Tileproxy is, but how the topo under it was horrible ... some textures 'slide' and 'stretch' right off the edges of say the Grand Canyon for example because the topo isn't as accurate as TP is .... Although I'm sure that something like USA Extreme Landscapes probably would correct the topo, but would TP be able to work with it? terrain_01.jpgWould TileProxy lay the tiles down on top of the new topographical 'upgrade so to speak? Here's a link to the product: http://www.abacuspub.com/catalog/s717frame.htm although I can't complain ... here are a few screenshots that show real vs TSX & TileProxy:1.jpg1B.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg6.jpg9.jpg

Darrincates, the FSG terrain mesh for the US is 10m and it works well. What I see as a 'defect' might just be mesh resolution but also might be a slight misalignment between the imagery and the mesh. I've noticed numerous occasions where the shadow side of a mountain ridge drapes across the top of the ridge and into "the sunlit side". Or maybe there are simply enough variations in each product to occasionally show an obvious discrepancy. All in all I am enthralled.Loyd

I'm using FS Global 2008, which is a great mesh addon, covering the entire world. I run Tileproxy on that with no problem.
