October 28, 200916 yr Hey all,I'm trying to get some add-ons working on a new computer, but I'm getting errors in each saying that SimConnect could not be found. I don't own the Deluxe version but I've had these working on another computer. Notes:1) I had installed FSX, SP1, SP2 (firing it up once after each install). 2) This is WinXP running under BootCamp (Snow Leopard)3) I remember doing some stuff like creating xml and cfg files, but that didn't work this time. Maybe I did it wrong and/or maybe I've left something out this time.4) For reference, the ones i"m having problems with are RemoteFMS and SuperTrafficBoard. I had 'em working under Vista.5) FSX and these programs are on the same computer6) Windows firewall is off. Thanks for any help y'all can provide. :)Josh

Just be sure you reinstall SP1/SP2 afterwards.Best regards,Jim
October 29, 200916 yr Author Thanks for that... Here's how it went:1) Repair FSX2) Run SP1 installer3) Launch FSX to test the addons4) Google Earth Tracker (which wasn't having any problems) said it needs simconnect but that wasn't installed, and offered to install it.5) Installed SimConnect6) Launching FSX would trigger dxdiag for some reason (it error'ed looking for a drive in drive E).7) Ran SP2 installer, which only offered to remove, so I did it (strange because I was supposedly at SP1)8) Ran SP2 installer again, successful install9) SuperTrafficBoard is now working, but RemoteFMS still is giving the error. Also I had moved out the Simconnect files I created. Do I need those or can I just delete them?

Do I need those or can I just delete them? The fact that you tried to install SP2 and it offered to remove it indicates to me that you never had a complete uninstall of FSX in the first place. FSX, when uninstalled, leaves a lot of residue on the harddrive which can mess up future reinstalls. The system registry evidently had SP2 lines in it that indicated SP2 was still installed. Nothing gets done perfectly anymore and most uninstall programs, including those belonging to FSX, leave files and registry entries. That's why you should always run a registry cleaning software program (there are several on the Internet for free) anytime you uninstall a program. I also search my directory structures after an uninstall to make sure the directory was deleted too during the uninstall. This is more than likely the root of all your problems as you shouldn't be getting the installation problems you are encountering. Anyway, I'm happy you finally got SuperTrafficBoard working. Not sure why RemoteFMS is still giving you an error. I'm not familiar with the program but I have looked at the Remote FMS website (http://www.remotefms.com/features). I would completely uninstall Remote FMS, disconnect it from the network, and then reinstall it based on the developers directions. Since this device works through an external network/router, there could be a multitude of places that are causing the problems you are encountering, including your computer system.Best regards,Jim
November 2, 200916 yr Author I got it resolved by locating an identical simconnect dll that Remote FMS was looking for (luckily another app included a copy of that version) and dropping it into the Remote FMS folder.
