October 30, 200916 yr Hi all, Im still using FS9 for two reasons: Framerates and FSnavigator. Let go on with framerates. My FSP installation contains: - FS9.1 (all settings maxed and further tweaked with Nvidia control panel)- PMDG 747- FSNAV- FSPassengers- Ultimate terrain europe- Active Sky 6.5- EHAM Cloud 9- My traffic 4.0My rig is: E6600 (3,2 on air)2x2 GB Corsair XMS 3 XFX 9800 GTX+Windows XP SP 3I use a dual boot with FS9 installed on a seperate hdd. With this combi i get in midair, 100 % cloudcoverage, turbulence in the virtual cockpit of the PMDG 747 about 25 - 30 frames. During my descent towards EHAM my frames drop to 10-15 frames. Usually i turn off AI traffic wich will increase the frames bij 5. I want to make the switch to FSX. Right know i i get 10 - 15 frames when sitting in the VC of the PMDG 747, standing on the runway (FS9 = 20-25). Lets forgets what happens as i open the throttles and take off: i close FSX and startup FS9...phew...Will the I7 920 with 8 GB ram and a ATI 5870 help? I've red so many topics about people being histerical about the I920 with FSX but only flying a cessna in 2D mode. Take the new plane from PMDG: the J41, later on they will release the N2 for FSX. I want to be ready for those add ons. Is that a dream or can it be reality? All i know is people talking about bandwith limitation. If that is true, not even a I 975 will help.Lets say i have about 1000 euro's to spent. October 30, 200916 yr Why won't you fly FSX? My backup rig is a C2D E8400 @ 3.76/4GB/8800 GTS 512 w/voltmod & o/c to > GTS 250 speed and it is entirely possible to obtain smooth flight @ > 15 fps even with the highest settings. I run @ 1680x1050 w/ 16xQ CSAA, 16x HQ AF, all graphics settings to highest except autogen @ dense & A/C/ casts shadows on itself set to off, traffic @ 30%. I have a client whose system is similar albeit not overclocked anywhere near as aggressively and he gets similar performance and with the usual suspects for add-ons in terms of traffic, scenery, and weather. If you want good performance, turn off the A/C self-shadowing and autogen. Then say hello to 40+ FPS all the time. 100+ in the air, often. My quad does slightly better, having a GTX 285 OC and 4GHz Q9550, but nothing tremendous.
