Just to add to all others with probs and win7. New PC, Win 7 64 bit. GTX285. Installed base FSX de luxe, reboot installed SP1 reboot then SP2. FSX loads and menu appears ( black screen for preview) fly now either gives 'fatal error' and wants to shut down or it runs with no proper graphics, no menu, nothing! Tried several nVidia drivers 186.18, 191.07 and even the new 195. Nothing. Where do I look next please?

That's strange, I had no problems at all. How did you install everything, as User or Administrator? I installed everything including all add-ons as just the User.Try re-install of FSX with the 'repair' option, then sp1 then sp2. You don't need to reboot between each step since you are not running the sim.Do you have any other games that work ok? What anti-virus protection are you using?Check your noVidia control panel settings. Also you should use NickN's tuning procedure here --> http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041

There's no other user on this PC so as admin/user. No other games. anti virus is Norton 2010. Nvidia control panel reset to default. I'll try reinstalling.This is a brand new rig - nothing else has been added yet!

All resolved now. reinstalled bit by bit, DL'd newest directx and stuff and it's working great. Didn't expect it to be so much better. BTW, I wasn't getting CDTs - just nothing.
