November 30, 200916 yr Hi - I had DWC enabled and started a flight in the LevelD 767 when I noticed the wind vector in the lower right corner of the HSI was flashing on and off repeatedly. I disabled DWC, saved and applied, then re-enabled, saved and applied and the wind vector stopped flashing and I made the rest of the flight with stable readings. Is this a bug? Also, I notice when I switch DWC mode the appearance of the weather that is generated changes momentarily then reverts back to former conditions.Secondly, on the Briefing page I imported a flightplan, I then pressed "Process" and "Install Graphics Snapshot." I read that Route Average weather conditions are created but I do not have any snapshots saved so I am not sure whether this had any effect on weather generation. I experienced far less changes in the weather and the feared "popping" of clouds that have been mentioned in other posts did not play into the flight.Looking forward to your comments,Robert \Robert Hamlich/
December 1, 200916 yr Hi,I don't know what the flashing wind vector symbol means as I don't have that plane. If you are going to change DWC modes while FSX is running then yes, weather may change back and forth. If you don't have any snapshots generated then none would have been installed. It is the average conditions that are used to chose the snapshot, nothing else. Thanks,
December 1, 200916 yr Author Hi Jim - Can I assume that if one has snapshots there would be less tendency for the weather to change drastically as some have indicted has happened during a flight? If I am to understand correctly a snapshot, once installed, is a depiction of the weather averaged out for the entire route whereby a user will not experience the wild shifts in weather as they are entering another reporting area with different conditions?Perhaps my setup is near perfect for FSX as I do not experience many changes in weather output during the course of a flight, I have disabled "cloud redraws" and enabled "force destination weather." I think one really important thing that I got from reading the manual is that I cleared my weather cache by selecting clear weather in FSX.I am really quite happy using ASA and I look forward to it getting even better than it is now.Best,Robert \Robert Hamlich/
December 1, 200916 yr Hi,A Snapshot has no weather data connected to it. A Snapshot is group of textures that a user had in FS or generated through X Graphics/ASG.There is no connection between Snapshots and weather depictions or behaviors! We are glad that you have set things up so well in your ASA!! It is refreshing to read posts such as yours!!Let me know if you have more questions about anything. Thanks,
