FS9 and laptop keyboard

Featured Replies

I must be missing something here... I chose to install FS on my Sony VAIO to use when I travel. I use the keyboard for flight surface controls. I found that the up-down and left-right arrows would work the elevators and ailerons. But I can't seem to find the equivalent of keypad '5' which neutralizes or centers these surfaces. Can some one fill me in? Or maybe I need to buy a USB numeric pad. Thanks for any help.note: performance seemed fine during the spiral dive to destruction :( Thanks,Ken

I'm also playing on a laptop, but have not looked into this problem. I have had to re configure key assignments for rudder control on my laptop. As you stated earlier, the arrow keys are good for elevator and aileron control, but I needed rudder control as well. All I did was change the rudder's key assignments to better suit my laptop keyboard. I suggest changin the key assinment as the best fix. Look at for the "Num Pad 5" assigned control in the "Control Surfaces" assignments and just change to a key that you like best. :(

Function + the function 5 (with the blue 5 on my "i" key) works on mine. YMMV.

That worked OK, but I ordered a USB keypad thinking the problem would be solved. But not, and neither did a re-install. I found that (at least on this VAIO) that NUM 5 is not recognized at all under FS9. I tried to assign NUM 5 to a function and nothing appeared on the screen. How about that! So for now I'm using the keypad '*' and it works. I'd like to hear from others with this experience as I had this software on a HP notebook without any issues.Ken
