No menu bar, external textures or VC?

Featured Replies

FS locked up the other night and when I restarted my computer FS went back to the ultralight and playing music etc and original settings.Started it and it loaded but locked up again. Was getting error messages on c drive but it worked.FS is on separate drive E.Took it to my computer guy and he restored my c drive off of O&O disk image.Fs loaded up Ok and was back to my personal settings except the AC in picture had no external textures.Loaded a flight and have no textures in VC.This is an add on ac.Tried another addon AC and same problem.Loaded default Baron and it is ok.Also the menu bar across the top does not display.Options are there but no menu bar.Computer guy installed latest video drivers and no help.Any thoughts? Now that I think about it I think one of the error messages said something about can't find xml file? Not sure about that but isn't that something to do with FS display? Thanks,Ron

happens to me often when flying the PMDG airplane, I guess it brings my system to its knees. Try deleting the fsx.cfg file and allowing it to be rebuilt for starters

Another follow up.I tried running AlacrityPC which has worked fine in the past and I got a fatal error for FSX.These are the files it was going to send to Microsoft:C:\documents and settings\user\applictaion data\microsoft\fsx\fsx.cfg.txt,dxdiag.txt,scenery.cfg,fdr.dat,and dll.xml.Don't know if that has any meaning or not. Thanks,Ron

Sounds like a FS reinstall is in your future.

And you can't say we didn't warn you! :( What you might try is a repair install of FSX as it might simply be that some of the files that are held on the C: drive have become corrupted in the ghosting process - you will recall I did warn you about that. Simply shove the DVD in and choose the repair option, then reinstall Acceleration or SP2. Don't reinstall anything else.Defrag the FSX installation, then find and rename the FSX.cfg. Finally, try starting FSX again. You might get lucky.

Disk Image asked if I wanted to delete the files on the drive completely.I decided against that till all other options are tried might do that before a complete reinstall. As a follow up I just went to my scenery.cfg and it has it as fs9 with none of my add on scenery. This is the header:[General]Title=FS9 World SceneryDescription=FS9 Scenery DataClean_on_Exit=TRUE Thanks for any help.Ron
