FS2002 don't start >"can't read MagVar data"

Featured Replies

Hi,Today FS2002 won't start up any longer and hangs in the startup screen. A new window is opened saying the following: "Cannot read FS2002 MagVar data. You will be using 0.0 Magnetic Deviations." When I click OK nothing happens and after a short while FS2002 craches to desktop.Does anybody knows what's going on and can help me fix it? I don't feel like FS2002 installing again! That will take me forever! Thanks! Lennart

You havent installed FS2004 have you, have you????Jason

Nop, I wish I had! No, the problems started when I installed the Fairchild-Dornier 728 from the filelibrary. Ever since FS2002 refuses to start. I already uninstalled it and removed the gauges but no improvement. Any other suggestions?Lennart

Lennart - It could be that something has changed your Registry entry for FS2002. Check this Registry entry and be sure the EXE path is pointing to FS2002: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator8.0 . If not, just change it back to FS2002 and you're all set to go again. Doug

DougYou are a clever boy!.I was getting the same message and sure enough the path to the exe had changed in the registry. I said OK and the sim still ran but well spotted.RegardsTimhttp://www.cambridgeflyingclub.com/images/timavatar2.jpg

I just wish I could remember what it was that changed my Registry when that happened to me. It pointed the EXE path to CFS3. I know it was the installer for an add-on aircraft that I loaded sometime last winter. But from the number of problems I've seen in the past couple of months there may be more than one problem out there. I'll post it if I can remember it.DougDoug
