Okies,It's been a while since I have been here in these forums, but anyhow,I am interested in getting FSX installed and working on my PC.Curently I have Win XP 32b and was wondering If I upgradedto win 7 64b, Would I have better FR and such.I install FSX --->SP1 ----> SP2 then register, then TRY and fly. I have played with the settings here and there but havn't seena vast improvement. I do have a 64b CPU and I have 4Gig Ram. I knowXP32 can only use 3.25 of my ram. I am guessing if I have a 64b OS I will be able to use all of my ram (and even up it to 8 gig)In turn in theory I should gain some performance. I have read posts about how users have installed two vid cards and didn'tmake a dent but they put in more ram and made a difference between 25-75%.I REALLY want to use FSX, it is lot prettier and seems to work better.I have been trying to find good tweaks both here and flightsim.combut it is time consuming and sometimes a little aggravating sifting throughthousands of pages, and most tweaks I find are kind of common sense type.My PC:Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache4Gig Ram1TB SATA HDDNvidia G9800GTX 512mbWin XP 32b (b is bit.. in case you haven't figured it out)Zanadu

I went from Windows XP Prof 64 to Windows 7 Prof 64 and will never go back. It's my understanding that W7 64 manages both system memory and hyper-threading much better.Just my two cents.

You may even want to consider OC the q9550 as well

I second Vincent. Get a decent CPU coller, the more fans the better, or get water cooling. You should be able to OC your CPU quite high if you get a decent cooler. Also try following this thread:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041it's an excellent FSX tune up and windows tune up as well. At the moment, I'm running an old p4 @ 4.2 ghz. I used to get approx. 12 FPS on average and fairly stuttery ride but after that tune up, I gained approx. 5 fps and had a really smooth flight. Follow his steps exactly, it will do you good!
