Autoland ILS problem

Featured Replies

I am using the 737 800 PMDG, and have the following problem when programing autoland on my FMC - and 737.The whole procedure runs fine, the aeroplane makes the correct approach, follows the glideslope, flairs fine, but only problem left of the runway. Now the ILS shows correct indication to turn right to align with runway, but the autoland/autopilot does not do this, does not align the aircraft horizontally.Nav 1 and 2 are on the correct ILS freq. Have tried 3 different airports, Seattle, Kennedy and Heathrow, and all have the same problem.ILS is showing correctly, but the aircraft does not adjust with the ILS to align up for straight final approach. Please any suggestions? On approach, I have it on APP and CMD A & CMD BSee message in panel, Singel Channel. Can not turn on VNAV during the approach, and LNAV is off.

You might want to try in the PMDG 737 support forum. However:-Have you checked to see if the ILS is actually aligned with the runway? Some default and addon scenery has this bug.-Have you tried this in any other aircraft? Is it actually a PMDG issue?-If memory serves me correctly, you shouldn't be getting "Single CH" during an autoland. I haven't shot one in so long I can't remember what the correct FMA is.-If the alignment issue is during rollout, then it is not a bug at all. The Honeywell AFCS that PMDG modeled is not approved for rollout guidance, and should be disconnected at touchdown.

Try Engaging the second autopilot then you should see something like CMD not single channel .Though I think there may be more than that to your problem , I am sure there is something , somewhere :( on the PMDG forum about magnetic deviation and a fix.Even though The PMDG is "old " by today's standard it will carry out an excellent autoland .Mark

HOLY GUACAMOLE!! I can't believe you posted this tonight!! I've always had the SAME PROBLEM and I was once again getting fed up with it. I was trying to resolve it yet again, and because the AVSIM forums (PMDG's included) don't allow a 3 letter search (I-L-S is 3 letters, very hard to search for help!!!) I was just resigned to having to fly her in manually! PLEASE post any solution you find back here!BTW, as far as I can tell it is always happening at add - on scenery -- is there any other kind? :( I HATE default airports! As always, thanks in advance for any insight or help anyone can provide.

Hi Chuck , and Op I take it you have tried this http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/How_t...Tracking_ErrorsI remember reading something else about this issue , but as you say the search engine is , well .... I think poor is the politest way of putting it :( .I will have a scroll through the PMDG 737 forum and see i I can spot itEDIT The only other thread I could find was thishttp://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=247314They have re organised the PMDG forums and it may well be that I read about it as a 747 problem Good luckMark

Thank you, Mark! I'll give those suggestions a try when I get back home tonight, but I'm almost positive it's none of those.I wish there was a way to save panel states in the NG so I could just go to different airports without setting up a whole flight and taking off and see if the problem replicates itself. It would make all this much easier to research. As would a 3 letter search in Flight Sim. Oh, rats, scratch that -- 'Sim' is a 3 letter word, isn't it? :(

You can search for 3 letter words, anything under that is not allowed and I believe it is something that was inserted into the forum software as part of a revision and not an AVSIM setting. I have sound this with other forums lately though it was not a problem with older IPB software.

All I can tell you is that three days ago I did a search on "PMDG ILS" and was bounced because "one of [my] words did not contain enough letters." I then did a search on "three letter words" and came up with a thread telling me the forum search won't accept them.Oh, well, seems to work now. Thanks!

Well problem solved, looked in the PMDG part of the forums, and tried the suggested register repair tool from:http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=libraryAnd after that the Autoland worked perfect, thanks for you who helped me with my directions and help how to solve this problem. In the PMDG forum also other alternatives to solve this, but this was enough for my problem. Thanks
