December 20, 200916 yr Hi,I have decided to run ASA on a Vista32 client (previously on Vista64 server). I have done a complete reinstall of FSX and all updates including acceleration on a different C:/ dir. (Server). Anyway, it all seems to have gone o.k. (no error messasges). When i start ASA client, all the buttons turn to color at the top except start FS. The log file below shows ASA not seeing location: FSX My Docs Path Value = ......Any ideas? I was also wondering why near the bottom it states "SimConnect SP1 instantiated!" when i know i just installed sdk sp2 ?Thanks in advance. December 20, 200916 yr Hi,1. We cannot start FS over a network install, that is why the Start FS icon stays gray and so this is normal.2. Go to the Briefing Screen and see if you can import a flight plan. If you can, everything is fine.3. Sometimes Simconnect does not get installed correctly. Uninstall and reinstall SP2.
December 20, 200916 yr Hello Jim,Thank you for responding so quickly.Importing a flight plan was not a problem at all..... strange. Shouldn't i seen the green ribbon text at the top of FSX when connected? Also, because i have the "locked to station" box "ticked" in ASA.... why does that not change when switching airports? hmm...Install of sdk sp2 went fine (it appears). When i run the included traffic.exe test it fails. Here is the updated log. There is the entry "FSX My Docs Path Value = " which i am still confused about. Other logs i have seen have the path entered in this line. Can this be manually entered somewhere in ASA or Simconnect? Thanks again,Eric3:03 PM - ASA load commencing...3:03 PM - Verifying Active Sky Advanced License3:03 PM - FSX Path Value = \\Eh-pc\fs\3:03 PM - FSX My AppData Path Value = \\EH-PC\Users\EH\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\3:03 PM - FSX My Docs Path Value = 3:03 PM - ASA settings have been loaded...3:03 PM - Initializing ASA3:04 PM - FS station database update not needed (unchanged)...3:04 PM - World Magnetic Model has been loaded...3:04 PM - Wx Station Database loaded: 9961 station(s)3:04 PM - Airports Database loaded...3:04 PM - Loading Additional Weather Stations...3:04 PM - SimConnect found and initialized3:04 PM - ASA controls initialized...3:04 PM - ASA v11.0.0.433 Copyright
December 20, 200916 yr Hi,See if your firewalls are allowing Simconnect access, including the port number. What happens if you run the AI Traffic Utility on the client with FSX running on the server?
December 20, 200916 yr Hi,O.K., double-checked the firewall ports, it all looks good. Port 500 ActiveSkyAdvanced on both the client and server. On the client, with FSX running on the server, the Trafficai.exe utility opens with no text for about 4 seconds and then closes.
December 20, 200916 yr Hi,That means that something is wrong with your set up. I can suggest that you go back through the networking chapter and double check everything, especially the files that need to be set up.
