Throttle Quadrant

Featured Replies

Does anybody have any suggestions for a throttle quad to be used with a PFC Saab Column Yoke & Cirrus Rudder pedals. My yoke & rudders are to arrive on the 29th of this month and I don't think that the Yoke has any attached throttle with it. I was wandering what others are using and how they connect up to the computer..In the interim, could I still use the throttle on my CH yoke to perform it's duty while using the PFC Yoke at the same time??Regards, jack

G'day Jack,No reason why you can't use your CH throttles. Just use them as per normal. My desktop SAAB Yoke only has an "out" USB connector (cable came with the unit) & no input for a throttle. There is a covered panel in the back of the case that would have taken a Serial connector however I beleive they stopped using that in favour of USB direct now.I still have my Saitek Yoke plugged in so I can use the throttle that came with it, plus an extra Saitek throttle I purchased for multi engined aircraft.I do have a third Saitek throttle also however to use all three I have to programm the third using a registered version of FSUIPC. So if you were to purchase two Saitek's for multi use you may need FSUIPC as FS only sees one Saitek throttle, even though two might be plugged in. FSUIPC overcomes this & works very well, especially for setting reverse thrust.Although, if I were you I'd probably use the CH unit till I could afford a PFC Throttle but having said that I must say I am very happy with the Saiteks. My CH Quad is back in it's box & has been for some time.

Cheers, Ross

Rossco,I'm getting the column USB type Saab yoke and was wondering if it would be possible to hook up my existing CH yoke-Throttle or leave it hooked up and plug in the Saab column yoke USB to my computer USB without any conflict of what yoke is primary etc. Any ideas of this or is it possible? Furthermore, what do I have to do to disable the CH Yoke as far as the Ailerons & Elevator inputs BUT still use the CH Throttle on the CH yoke control as I will be using the PFC Column yoke and not the CH Products Yoke. I guess my question is: How do you disable the CH Yoke ailerons & elevator but not the Throttle functionality? If this is possible, where do you do this from? Is this done in the settings menu under control Axis where you can delete a Joystick Assignment? Can anybody elaborate on this?Regards, jack

G'day Jack,I still have both connected & have had no problems with the Saitek interfering with the PFC unit.I have a dual boot system with winXP & win7 & discovered yesterday that with my win7 install I still had the Saitek control imputs present in the FS Settings/Controls/ Controls Axis assignments so disabled them as you inferred in your last post. I noticed no difference. I had previously disabled the Saitek in my XP boot but forgot to do it with the Win7 install. As said there was no conflict even though I had not unassigned the Saitek aileron & elevator inputs prior. The Saitek throttle is seen by FS as part of the Yoke so is similair to the CH in that respect, so I don't expect you will have any problems.BTW the only thing I miss by not using the Saitek or CH is the hat switch. Although I have TrackIR I still use the hat occasionally when using external view, & as you will still have the old yoke connected you will be able to use that & any other switches it has. FS doesn't appear to prioritise one over the other. Just assign as usual.

Cheers, Ross

Rossco,Thanks so much for your input. I was getting a little concerned that I may not have access to a throttle with my new yoke setup. I appreciate you explaining in detail what your system would allow you to do with it. Have a great holiday.Regards, jack

No worries Jack.Pleased I could be of some help. All the best to you also for the Festive Season.Cheers,Ross
