I have a laptop next to my desktop PC. I want run Active Sky Advanced and Plan-G through this laptop and run my FSX on my PC. Is this possible? If so, how? Is there a manual for dummies, I have never done any networking and know next to nothing about it. I want to be able to fly in FTX and have the Plan-G program running on the other computer so I know where I am going. Thanks guys. O ya I got FSUIPC registered do I have to buy Simconnect, what is simconnect......lol Cya

Hi Jordan - First off, the best thing to do is to add your system specs in your sig as it will help people to help you at the forums when they know what they are dealing with.I would recommend having a good read of the ASA manual over at hifisim regarding networking as I can only provide a little info. You will need to find out what your IP address is as this info will be important. You will have to run the .msi file which is found on the FSX Deluxe installation DVD.On the laptop where you will install ASA (Client) in Windows Firewall under the exceptions tab you have to add ActiveSkyAdvanced to the list, select edit and add port 500 with TCP radial selected.Your desktop FSX computer (Server) must contain 2 files:SimConnect.xml file is placed in the folder where your FSX.cfg is located and should look something like this:SimConnect.xml<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?><SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0"> <Descr>SimConnect</Descr> <Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol> <Scope>local</Scope> <Address>100.000.0.00</Address> Very important! <MaxClients>64</MaxClients> <Port>500</Port> <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize> <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle> </SimConnect.Comm> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>Auto</Protocol> <Scope>local</Scope> </SimConnect.Comm></SimBase.Document>SimConnect.ini[simConnect]level=verboseconsole=0;RedirectStdOutToConsole=1;OutputDebugString=1;file=c:\simconnect%03u.log;file_next_index=0;file_max_index=9Finally, your laptop (Client) must contain 1 file. In the Flight Simulator X Files found in your documents folder you will place the SimConnect.ini file and will look something like this:SimConnect.cfg[simConnect]Protocol=IPv4Address=100.000.0.00 Here is the all important IP address again!! Port=500 Here is the all important port #MaxReceiveSize=4096DisableNagle=0Had a quick look at Plan-G and it is a nice piece of kit. I see that it is configured for networking and will give it a try. It may work if you add an entry to each of the respective files for the second program but again I am not sure if that will work. If you are having issues with ASA networking feel free to post over at the HiFi Sim forum as Jim Skorna is a great resource and provides excellent customer service.Best,

That is sure a helpful post. Get familiar with it because Flight is going to use the same system.
