Tutorial on adding downloaded aircraft

Featured Replies

It seems no time since I was asking this question some 15 years ago about FS5 :), in the "pre-AVSIM "days of "the list" . How do I add aircraft, scenery etc. from downloads to X-Plane, is there a tutorial? I note that some aircraft downloads are just the .acf file, I assume something like an .air file? Thanks for any help, Bruce.

Most reasonable developers distribute their add-ons as zip files you simply need to extract into the Aircraft (or a subfolder thereof) or Custom Scenery folders in your X-Plane folder. Yes, .acf files are X-Planes equivalent of .air files. However, like an FS aircraft that consists of only a .cfg and .air file, an .acf file alone won't make an aircraft with much (visual) detail.Judith

Thanks Judith- I think the .acf file is an updated one for the default C172S. Thanks for the info on where to put these files.Bruce.
