January 2, 201016 yr I'm Interested in buying some PMDG products for FSX but I am not sure If my computer can handle such extensive detail. On the product page for the PMDG Jetstream 4100 it says that there is an option called "frame rate optimization" and this makes it possible for it to work on "relatively low end PCs". When you say relatively low-end PCs what exactly do you have in mind? Could I run any FSX PMDG products on my computer?my computer specs:FSX SP2processor: intel Core 2 Duo T8100 @ 2.1 Ghz.Memory: 4.00 gigabytes of ramOS: windows vista service pack 2 64 bitgraphics card: Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS 128MBJustin M.
January 2, 201016 yr Commercial Member It's hard to say there Justin - that CPU is pretty low end as far as the Core 2 line went. The 128MB of RAM on the video is also a major issue... What kind of performance do you get on the default planes? Do you have any addon aircraft from other companies? January 3, 201016 yr Hi Justin,I have an i5 @ 2.6ghz and a nVidia GeForce 8400M GS at512mb and im getting a bottleneck for 6-15FPS. As Ryan said, what do you get with defaults?Aidan S
January 3, 201016 yr Author Well normally I have my frame rate set to unlimited but that fluctuates from around 12-15 to sometimes high 30's on the ground and the game lags a bit so I capped the frames off at 20 and for the most part stays at 20 but sometimes drops a frame or two. that's with the projectopensky 737-800 inside the virtual cockpit(default) with custom sounds. As for the default planes I get an average of about 30FPS . I don't have any payware add-ons because the ones I have are either FS9 exclusive or don't offer support for 64 bit operating systems and have a lot of "bugs" so no point in using those. I would upgrade my computer but thanks to Dell's "unique" configurations I can't because my graphics card is attached to the motherboard. :(
January 3, 201016 yr Hi Justin,30FPS for default planes sounds rather good, I THINK that the J41 (for fsx) will run at about 15FPS on your system, but once again let Ryan confirm it.
January 3, 201016 yr Author I just tried it again with the default CRJ-700 at Boston-Logan on unlimited I got as much as in the high 40's and as low as around 20 but it averaged from 30 to 35FPS. I tried locking the frames at 35 and it for the most part maintained 35 unless i was moving around quickly in spot view or I was using reverse thrust which started to kick up some snow. When you say you get 6-15 fps is that set on unlimited or locked and are you using a payware, freeware or default airplane?

Every aircraft is 6-15FPS even Captain Sim which is no different to the default. We can be 100% what the result would be but if you dont mind 10FPS then you should be fine.
January 3, 201016 yr Author well just because you get 10 frames doesn't make it bad. For instance, I was checking out the Imagine sim San Jose scenery demo and I was using various add on airplanes and only getting 10 to 12 frames average but the performance was relatively smooth.
