January 12, 201016 yr Hi!I was reading about powerbacks (pushing back using reverse thrust) and thought i'd try it!I was at Newquay parked at a gate, with fair weather set, and engaged a little reverse thrust and the aircraft moved backwards - no problem. However, I changed the weather to a light westerly breeze (8kts), and with the aircraft parked 'side-on' to the wind, reverse thrust wouldn't make the aircraft move at all!Strange - is this meant to happen?Regards,Tom Wright Tom Wright, UK PPL(A) SEP + Night Rating + IMC/IR(R) Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM | 16GB RTX 4080 Super | 2x 2TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Sidestick + Quadrant | Logitech G Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals | WinCTRL Airbus FCU + EFIS + MCDU
January 12, 201016 yr Author Just carried out another experiment here.It would appear that it will move backwards under reverse when there is no wind, or when it is positioned into wind. If you are positioned facing any other direction other than into wind, it will not back up. If you start reversing facing the wind and then turn, it'll stop.Bizarre! Can anyone shed any light on this?Regards,Tom Wright Tom Wright, UK PPL(A) SEP + Night Rating + IMC/IR(R) Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM | 16GB RTX 4080 Super | 2x 2TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Sidestick + Quadrant | Logitech G Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals | WinCTRL Airbus FCU + EFIS + MCDU
