January 23, 201016 yr Yeah, I'm backFirst I'll post my results:Method: I decided to check the BglComp versions first since it would be easier to reinstall and upgrade than FSX would be. I still had FSX SP2 installed but it didn'y seem to make muck differance. I compiled the same xml file, saved the bgl file for each succesive SDK upgrade. (RTM, SP1, SP1a, SP2). I then tested each bgl file version, on RTM, SP1, and SP2 upgrade of FSX.Objects from front to back:{3221D6F7-EFF7-4535-8914-9483B7946213}_gen_dock_seaplane_7-25_ramp1B{F21F25FB-C407-4E41-9B40-B2520C562514}_gen_dock_seaplane_4x10B <-- No pitch or bank in FSX SP2{AB882FF9-DD60-479B-BD3E-4E403CA91AAE}_gen_wharf_01 <-- No pitch or bank in FSX SP2RTM) fsx.exe - File Version: 10.0.60905.0SP1) fsx.exe - File Version: 10.0.61355.0 (fsx-sp1.20070510-2038)SP2) fsx.exe - File Version: 10.0.61472.0 (fsx-sp2.20071210-2023)RTM) BglComp.exe - File Version: 10.0.60905.0SP1) BglComp.exe - File Version: 10.0.61206.1 (FSX.20061206-1703)SP1a) BglComp.exe - File Version: 10.0.61355.0 (fsx-sp1.20070510-2038)SP2) BglComp.exe - File Version: 10.0.61472.0 (fsx-sp2.20071210-2023)The outcome?---------BglComp---------RTM--SP1--SP1a--SP2FSXRTM---YES--YES--YES--YESSP1---YES--YES--YES--YESSP2----NO----NO----NO----NO(As seen in FSX SP2)(As seen in FSX RTM & SP1)At first I thought it was something I wasn't doing quite right. Now that I know what the problem is, I can stop banging my head against the wall and save the cost of more aspirins. All I'll do is take note of which ones don't 'pitch & bank' and avoid using them, or find alternatives. Thank you guys for that bit of insight.I do use a few FS9 objects (might not look as nice but probably better on frame rates) but I prefer to stick to default FSX objects as much as possible for easier distribution. There is also the matter permissions of use and of copyright infringments(3rd-party). Double-checking that all the texture files necessary are included is easy, the texture names are in the mdl files. In FSX the 'friendly names' are also in the mdl file, when decompiled it makes it easier to make a list of the GUIDs, corresponding discriptions and mld file names. FS9 mdl files do not have the 'friendly names' in them. The closest that I came to a complete listing is in a data file of ADE9x. It has the GUID & originating bgl file but no discription. Piecing a list together from other sources at least narrows down the list. But I'll stick with FSX because there were a few things that I've noticed during this exercise. For one, other than in SP2, after docking, AI float planes tend to sink somewhat and then jump/pop up to the surface when about to taxi.Quite the hobby, isn't it?DBC
January 23, 201016 yr Hows this for an update?I made an error in the previous post :( OOPS!It should have read....----------Objects from front to back:{3221D6F7-EFF7-4535-8914-9483B7946213}_gen_dock_seaplane_7-25_ramp1B <-- No pitch & bank in FSX SP2{F21F25FB-C407-4E41-9B40-B2520C562514}_gen_dock_seaplane_4x10B <-- No pitch & bank in FSX SP2{AB882FF9-DD60-479B-BD3E-4E403CA91AAE}_gen_wharf_01 <-- DOES pitch & bank in all versions.----------I've been thinking about this issue. Why do some objects cease to pitch & bank while others seem unaffected?A model is a model isn't it.......or IS it? When were they made and by whom? Are some FS9 models refurbished to conform to FSX standards, and others brand new for FSX?Is it just another case of 'Too many cooks in the kitchen'?(maybe i should have spelled that as 'kooks')I have a theory...it's just a theory! It may not be just a bug in the SP2 update for FSX. If it was, I would think that it would affect ALL the models the same.... so why not? (The history of the model) There could possibly be something within the models themselves that was hidden up untill SP2 cause it to rear its ugly head. In other words some coding in the some models which causes FSX to handle them differently. I don't think it's just SP2 or is it? I would like to know exactly WHAT parts of FSX were updated by SP2.Once I have enough samples of working & non-working stock/default models, I might be tempted to look into it a little further... It all depends how big the burr in my butox grows.Something to think about anyway.Later!DBC
