FS2004 Impressions

Had about 3 hours to play around with it last night. My system is:P4 2.4GeForce FX 5200512 MB RAMWinXPHere's what I found:1) After completing a full install, none of my planes (except for the 737) had a 2D cockpit, nor could I view any other windows, like the GPS. I could still use the virtual cockpit. Anyone else experience this? Hopefully, it was just a fluke and reinstalling will fix it.2) BUG (at least for me): While in virtual cockpit of 737, turning on/off Nav lights had no affect. Had to go to the 2D cockpit and toggle the lights. Anyone else noticed this?3) BUG (at least for me): When moving to different menus on the menu bar, the previously dropped down menu stays open. Looks like a refresh issue. Anyone else seeing this?4) Seems to run OK. I haven't found the sweet spot for my settings yet, but so far so good. I noticed the biggest frame rate drop when there are lots of clouds around, although, the rates seemed higher during a major thunderstorm.5) The Lear jet seemed easier to control. It actually seemed heavier on takeoff and didn't jump off of the runway like the previous ones have.Anyway, I'll play around with it some more this weekend.John

Thanks for the impressions. I don't have the game yet, but I did hear that people with the GeForce FX cards were having that 2d cockpit problem. I don't know of a fix yet.

To me biggest drop in framerates is unchecking T&L (Transform and lighting) setting in hardware page. With FS2002 it was the other way around odly enough, better framerates UNchecking it whereas in FS9 it goes better having it checked. Odd stuff..

Unchecking it in 02 wasn't the real answer; it was possible for the checkbox to be out of sync with the actual setting. If you found it faster with the box unchecked you'll probably find T&L actually enabled in the .cfg file.

You heard of this problem with FX cards? Crap. I was hoping it was a fluke installation problem. Where did you hear this?thx,
