January 20, 201016 yr Folks:I was wondering, if Microsoft will develop another Flight Simulator beyond FSX? If they won't I guess FSX is the last , then, right? Now, speaking about Operating Systems, I notice that more than 98% of corporations in the U.S. are still using Windows XP; infact, only a few peole switched to Windows Vista when it arrived. Billy came along and deleted Windows Vista from the map, so it is now obsolete (non-existen)...Here is my question:Will FSX work with Windows 7 and the next coming 10 operating systems that Microsoft will invent in the next 5years years...See, my amigo, friend, a business not only needs to think about how much money they can make; a business needs to think, also, on what its customers want, and what they can afford..Do you comprehend, my friend ?So, if Windows Vista is obsolete.....Where are we heading with flight simulation? With which OS will the next products work? That is the big question?I hope this helps !!!Juanito

However, no one here can speak for microsoft since this forum is for PMDG products... A lot of people love Win7. Me personally now use XP64 since there are some issues I had with Vista64 (see this link).Vista is not obsolete, but microsoft does like to put out a product, make promises about it, then not finish or fill their promises and rather make new OS's that fix things they should have in earlier versions... if that's what you mean.As for another Flight Simulator. Microsoft released the developers group known as Aces which produced Microsoft simulators (Flight sim, train, etc...). The current speculation and hope is that a new one will eventually come out, but not from Microsoft. However, a new group including member of the Aces team have regrouped and started their own company, so in my opinion, FS is not dead, and probably will never be. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
January 22, 201016 yr Commercial Member Nothing stops MS from assembling another team and making a new FS. The idea I've often seen thrown around on forums that ACES was the only team that can make a good sim is pretty short-sighted I think. In fact, they don't seem to have ever really figured out modern engine stuff with GPU acceleration etc - just too much old code in there, FS98 through FSX all basically built on the same core (CPU-limited etc) engine. I have absolutely no idea if they will do this, but the whole shutting down of ACES thing might not be the horrible thing everyone makes it out to be if this does happen down the road somewhere.
