January 29, 201016 yr SO i use this all the time and it always give me WX at my current position, why? I dont care wut the wind/temp or QNH is at FL350, I need the field WX so I can figure out the rwy I'm going to use and the STAR that will bring me there. I am using FSX Vista x64 and ASA. AM i setting something up wrong? O ya can i tune into my ARR field ATIS anyitme in flight? Thanks, O ya for the next version can u simulate OCEANIC procudre accuratley?

Thanks, O ya for the next version can u simulate OCEANIC procudre accuratley?how far do you think you can hear an atis broadcast? if you are within 70 miles of the arrival airport (maybe less, i don't remember), and you leave frequency, you will get the arrival weather. same for departure, within a certain distance from the departure airport, you will hear departure atis.if you are 350, i'm guessing you are much further away, so you get the local weather, from the closest weather station.there hasn't been a great demand for oceanic procedures, so i doubt they will be in v5.if you want to know the arrival weather, you can check ASA.but in reality, that isn't really going to help tell you which way the ai are landing or taking off, and that is the primary data i use to pick the active runway. another reason checking weather hundreds of miles out, doesn't really help.in v5, you will be able to check weather at the destination airport, while you are still on the ground at the departure airport if you want. that will be simulated by an ACARS type representation in RC v5. (there will be an acars menu, which will allow you to interact with it, as if it was a terminal-like device)jdjd JD Read my blog
January 29, 201016 yr ok ok. Let me explain my problem. I fly in ORBX FTX with the PMDG41, I use ASA and all this other addon crap to make my experience awesome. I like to nail my flight by the numbers all the time. So here my problem.I will be at like FL300 going into a field with a 5,000' rwy maybe a VOR/NDB app or something non-precision like that. I'm worried that if I dont pick a runway, perferrible with an IFR app that I may get down there and the WX is low and I cannot visually see the rwy. Will RC give me an insturment app if the WX is bad even if there is no ILS? or will it always vector me for a visual? I just don't want to get down to 3,000' and no know what my airplane is going to be doing in 5 minutes u know. I dont care about AI, I care about getting into the wind and getting set up properly even if i'm going into smaller fields.
