Did you get any help on this? I have the same problem. Whenever I'm at cruise altitude and start to descend, I get a crash to desktop. Really annoying. Doesn't do it if I'm just flying a pattern at low altitude.Mickey

Do you have GEX installed? Many have noticed crashes with GEX installed. Obviously it was not installed correctly or the settings in the GEX configuration program are not properly set. There is nothing wrong with the GEX program. I have used it successfully for over a year and have not had any problems. If you have it installed, I would run the execute again and select the repair option (if there is one). If no repair option, I would uninstall it. Run FSX and see if that fixed your problem. GEX replaces your default FSX textures. If uninstalling GEX (if installed) fixes your problem, then I would reinstall it but make sure UAC (User Access Controls) are disabled plus any anti-virus program disabled until the installation has been completed. GEX has a button in their config program to place a setting in your FSX.cfg to adjust autogen. Perhaps this was corrupted and no longer in your current FSX.cfg. Don't know if that would cause the CTD's but it's worth a look. The exception code c0000005 means you had a memory exception error too. Those errors are hard to diagnose but it could be caused by bad memory settings in the bios or even defective RAM. You don't indicated how much memory is installed or what type of OS you are running. People with 64bit operating systems have better success with memory management but some have experienced this exception error when running FSX too. It's not prevalent to just 32 bit systems. If your system is overclocked, it could be caused by system instability and you'll have to adjust your overclocking settings. Another AVSIM member had this terrain.dll problem last year and was told to lower his sliders and that solved his problem - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/292844-terraindll-crashes-fsx/ . Might work for you too!Best regards,Jim

I don't have GEX installed. I'll try adjusting the sliders and see if that helps. I have a fairly quick computer though and the sim runs great with sliders all the way to the right up until I descend.Mickey

Yes, but it seems more problems occur when all sliders are pushed to the right. This version of FSX just can't handle it for some reason.Best regards,Jim
