February 2, 201016 yr Simple question. I have an Oced i7 920 to 3.6 GHz. Is my processor just as good as the 975 or 960 at the same clock speed or horribly worse? FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠 Matt Kubanda, 7950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 5090@4k, MSFS 2024

February 2, 201016 yr The 975 has a faster QPI though, or does that not make much of a difference? As Word Not Allowed said, nothing you will notice or miss.Second, most decent Mother boards allow you to raise or lower QPI. Its just a "rating" same as the frequency, just because the 920 is rated at 2.6 doesnt mean the chip you get cant do better, its called overclocking. I know you knew that, I am just demonstrating the point. The question to ask yourself is 4.0-4.4Ghz good enough for you leaving you enough spare change to buy a Fermi and more or do you really think your going to gain that much more with a for the extra $700 your going to shell out?If you go 920 just make sure you get the newer DO stepping.
February 2, 201016 yr BTW, the QPI on this I7-920 as O/C right now is 7561mt/s, if that helps you any.
