  1. I have to ask, why aren’t you able to set these things with your mouse? Genuinely curious.
  2. Ah ok, YouTube is the official determination of truth now? Good grief, we are in more trouble that I thought.
  3. You clearly have some strong opinions about this. That being said what solutions do you propose? I don’t see how ATC was at fault for this.
  4. This seems like an insane waste of money. Then again, if they are advertising it, I can’t imagine how much money they are saving by not contracting it out.
  5. I may not be experiencing the same thing you are. However I have noticed a stutter every second. I eventually found out it was due to having the beacon light on when using specific addons. Fenix suffers from this every so slightly while pmdg birds cause a much more noticeable stutter. I accepted it and just leave the beacon off for takeoff and landing lol.
  6. Ha! I knew they were a store front for obvious reasons. But I actually thought they had a dedicated team of developers that were making these aircraft. Or multiple teams of developers isolated to specific genres of aircraft. Nevertheless, I presumed they went out and hunted down talent and then hired them onto the teams. Never knew it was just a collaboration of different entities making the products they sell. Ya learn something new everyday!!! 🤦🏼‍♂️😝
  7. You’re clearly too emotional to have a constructive conversation about this. I appreciate your zeal for your position. However, I’m not in the mood to continue this with you….unless you’re buying the first round. Then I’ll oblige you AND get the second round.
  8. Very well said! The market is changing. Either adapt or get out! Ha love it!
  9. Great points from both of you. It’s clear I’m extremely disillusioned with what Flightsim development is these days. At this point I think it’s a load of hot garbage. I remember when it was a group of people working their butts off to do everything themselves. If they were good at it, they were able to stick around and grow in this niche market. If they didn’t have the skills, they failed. Now it’s just about who has the most capital and who’s a better production company. Makes sense though because now we have a ton of “developers” that make half or 3/4 baked products and can do it record pace. Just hire out some other groups to do your work, pay them some money and advertise it as your own.
  10. Everything you say in this post makes perfect sense. In my opinion though, Flightsim add on companies like Pmdg, flytampa, leonardo, fslabs etc. aren’t like home builders or car companies for example. When I buy a Toyota, I go into that purchase knowing that there have been a bunch of B2B contracts set up for raw materials that make up the car as a whole. I understand that it was Toyota who designed the vehicle and have contracted things out to get the vehicle made. Same thing goes for houses, I don’t think the builder had a lumber farm some place and is growing and cutting down trees. Or getting stone from their own quarry some place. so I see your point and it makes complete sense. Going back to Flightsim. If PMDG contracted out the artwork, sound scape, and 3d scanning, what’s left? The systems code and optimization? At this point it’s not a pmdg product outside of the store name, it’s just a collaboration of different companies making one singular product. I came to the conclusion that PMDG did almost all of their work because during the old fsx days, vscimone was on the forums and showcased pictures of the NGX art work during development. It was said that he was doing all the work. Then RSR said himself before that point in time that the same individual who did the J41 was also assigned to do the md11. For years RSR has touted PMDG as doing all of their own work. That meant hiring people to their team to secure a skill set under the PMDG banner. To me, when a Flightsim company outsources work to another company and then says it’s their own, in the end, it’s not. That is a collaboration between companies. PMDG contracting with cloud services, store front software and other things like that I understood as necessary and was meant to do so. Required even. But modeling, texturing and to an extent, soundscape? Well now you’re just a production company with a fancy storefront and nothing more. I wonder that if all pmdg is are coders and optimizers, do you think they do work for other developers for their aircraft systems?
  11. No, that’s green primer. Used to see that all the time on these jets at my old company.
  12. Calm down…good grief. It’s Flightsim, not your retirement. No never realized it. It’s never been advertised as such and it’s never been pushed. I’ve never heard FSLabs say they are using a completely different modeling company for the airbus. I presumed that they are the ones with the skills doing it themselves. Same with their sounds and coding among other things. Why would I assume what you do and think these companies operate like multi nations Fortune 500 corporations? I assumed that an add on that took 2-4 years to develop did so because it was a small operation doing a ton of work by themselves. Not farming everything out and then just selling the product. I knew aerosoft operated like that but their products were never as good as the big players in this niche industry. It’s PMDG we are talking about. A company who has NEVER before mentioned other people doing their work up until recently. Why am I wrong or word not allowed to be surprised they are farming their work out? Pmdg has acted and advertised that it’s them doing everything in house for years. You suspect???? So you don’t actually know if FSLabs did work for inibuilds? Are they or are they not? I think it’s reasonable to presume that any company making aircraft for Flightsim have to do everything in their power to protect their competitive advantage. Why would they throw that away to make a quick buck from work for another company?
  13. So it’s not Pmdg who did the modeling but gaya studios? Am I wrong in this understanding? Echo19 did their new sound update correct? If both of these are correct, it’s not really PMDG doing much of their new stuff anymore, it’s all contracted out. I never thought I’d see the day.
  14. Hey guys, I’ve been searching for it but I can’t find that thread about the significant 777 update. Do you all know where it is? No matter what thread I go into, it’s just about msfs 2020 vs 2024 and how pmdg had bad customer service.
  15. Your parents sent you to a boarding school huh? I’m sorry they didn’t love you enough to give you the attention and time you deserved. That makes sense though considering you can’t stand kids in society. Your parents couldn’t stand you and sent you away and as a result, you don’t understand how selfish you are. I would bet a ton of money you mainly just live all for yourself don’t you? Whether you have children or adult offspring, you probably most likely make decisions in your best interest in regards to everything. Sounds like a terrible life to live.
  16. The two arrivals the OP asked about don’t have any charted altitude and speed restrictions. ORD has other arrivals from different directions that do have restrictions.
  17. I’m based out of ORD in real life… Here’s some insider info, of ORD is landing to the west… WYNDE STARs… put into your FMC for RHIVR at FL200, FIYHR at 9000. That is usually what they do. TRACON will pull you of the arrival around FIYHR or so and vector you onto the final. They will continue to descend you to either 4,000 for 27R or 7,000 for 27L. They will vector you to intercept glide slope before the fix that is associated with your altitude. (4k or 7k.) WATSN STARs… HULLS at 12000. TRACON will descend you to 10,000 at 300 knots and then descend below 10k and tell you to maintain 250 kias. They will vector you off the arrival when you’re over the water and onto final. They will continue your descent to 7,000 feet and then clear you for the approach. They will vector you to intercept glideslope before the fix that is associated with 7,000 feet. WHEN ORD IS LANDING EAST… you won’t use the WATSN STARs at all. They will always switch you to the ESSPO arrival. This happened to me this morning actually. WYNDE arrival landing east, RHIVR at 20,000 feet and then FIYHR at , 11,000. After that, fly the arrival all the through to the downwind for the 9s/10s runways. You have to be at 4,000 before you can be vectored off of the arrival and onto final. Anytime you’re on a downwind at ORD, be at 7,000 feet as you’ll be crossing over departing traffic that will level off at 5k. for all approaches, they will have you intercept at 250 knots usually and then slow you to 210until the fix before your FAP. They then slow you to either 180,170 or 160 and tell you to hold that speed until the FAP. This should help you out.
  18. We might be talking about two different things as you stated in your post. I don’t see what you see when you say the airplane slides across the ground like ice. I see that it grabs the ground too abruptly as if the calculations are either “wheels in air” or “wheels on ground.” There is no blending. I see the airplane sliding like ice during the roll out which is unequivocally wrong in my opinion. That being said, I still think the immediate change in direction of travel at the exact point of contact with the ground is wrong. Then when the airplane is on the roll out, the slippy slidey feel of the plane is wrong as well. I’m doing my best to articulate my thoughts through word but I may not be doing a great job of that. Anyways, good talk!
  19. I don’t know if it’s a language barrier or something else but his video don’t show a lack of friction. They show too much. Specifically at the point of touchdown during a crosswind landing. The second the wheels touch the ground, the airplane shoots immediately and perfectly in the direction the nose is pointed. There needs to be some type of inertia calculation where the airplane skids a bit and then the wheels grip the runway and then moves in the direction the nose is pointed. This process take a only a second or two in the real world but it makes a huge difference in how the an airplane feels in the real world compared to the sim. I agree with his point that once your on the roll out of a landing or during a takeoff the wind has way to much effect on the plane. Thars not realistic with these transport category airplanes. In strong winds, the airplane will weathervane but th ground friction keeps the airplane surprisingly steady.
  20. I remember from flying these things in the real world in years past that you would get an EICAS message if the boost pumps were off. Could be bad recollection but I’m pretty sure it would throw an amber caution message.
  21. Advice? When it comes to the MCP push/pull knobs…. push in means you give control to the airplane. Think, pushing something to the plane and you saying “here, you deal with this.” That said, when you push a knob in, you’ll get managed mode. pull means “I’m taking control back.” Or “pull and pray!” When you pull on a knob, it goes to open mode, like open climb/descent or open speed. These are unbelievably simple ways to think about the mcp modes and operation. Also, don’t think about the fly by wire and what it’s doing when you’re hand flying. Just fly the plane like any other and just enjoy not having to trim.
  22. Oh look, another user who can’t fathom the idea of being a part of a larger community than themselves. Instead of spreading good will, love and the joy of flying, they belittle and put down everyone else because that’s probably what happened to them their entire lives. I am truly sorry that whoever treated you the way they did in your life led you to treating others so poorly. May you be blessed with the love and attention you never had but desperately needed and wanted.
  23. For those of you complaining about the removal of humidity, as long as the dew point and temperature are still present, their relationship is modeled correctly within the game, then life is still ok. If the game models the atmosphere correctly in that when the dew point rises the atmosphere can hold more moisture, then life is definitely ok. Check out this explanation of how relative humidity can be figured by using the dew point spread. https://www.weather.gov/arx/why_dewpoint_vs_humidity in a real world application, I’ve NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER had any weather reports such as METARs or TAFs give me relative humidity. Why not? Because I can use the dew point spread to figure it out. I can also make an educated assessment of the atmospheres ability to hold moisture by looking at how high the dew point is.
  24. That’s extremely odd. I’d love to talk to the people who made that decision
  25. In the USA, to add to all the above, nowadays, the decision to do an ILS vs RNAV really depends on what the pilot prefers. In most cases TRACON will clear the aircraft for whatever the pilots ask for. In smaller cases, ATC may need a specific approach but I’m finding that exceedingly rare. At KSAN and KLAX, their approach clearances are “cleared for rwy xx approach.” It’s not even an assigned approach anymore. It’s great because that leaves the choice completely up to us as long as we fly to the correct runway.
