February 2, 201016 yr I have my hd in 2 partitions. c is os and d is fsx. if I use acronis to clone or copy the d drive to another disk and make sure its labeled "d" will everything still work without haveing to reinstall? thanks in advance! :(
February 2, 201016 yr Rather doubtful, since many FSX addons use registries which point to it's installation directory, so addons such as PMDG aircraft won't work correctly, and Flight 1 addons won't either because you will need to point the installer to the key again, as it will search for the key file on that disk, and flight. 1 keys are non transferable, they just don't work after being moved to other drives. Plus, you will find that a clean install will benifit FSX better as there may be many freeware junk that you don't use anymore. Best to:1. Format second HD2. Install FSX clean.3. Run a defrag. And reboot4. Install service packs, accel. Etc5. Defrag and reboot.6. Install addons, but restarting after each install, and running FSX after reboot to check for issues.7. Defrag and reboot. You would also be better to uninstall FSX from your other drive, reboot, then defrag and reboot. Having clean installs on your FSX HD is really important, that's why copying from one HD to another is bad.
