February 3, 201016 yr Wow. Nice video question! About the camera focusing...try disabling face recognition.... or some setting similar. My parents camera has that and if the lighting is poor it keeps refocusing to find your face.About your Q's:From what I've read it's best to put FSX on an SSD therefore you'll benefit from faster load times, initially and also texture loading in-game. However, like you said, SSD's aren't cheap. Install locations.... you can see my horrible specs and I run the OS and FSX on the same drive, using the default install method (Program Files etc etc). I've heard two thoughts on this:1) It's bad because the UAC in Vista screws with programs/addons. However, I've not noticed this because I disable UAC.2) It's good because FSX is calling for Windows files which are located on the same physical HDD when flying. Not sure what to believe.About RAID, can't give a definite answer on that. you may want to read a post on Phil Taylor's old FSX blog from Nick N:http://blogs.msdn.com/ptaylor/archive/2007...blog-posts.aspxThere is also a simforums post here, containing responses from NickN:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=26314p.s. Interesting to hear from someone who is successful using a GTX 295 with FSX.... I've seen many users with issues...since it's essentially an SLI'd 285 | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 3, 201016 yr Hopefully someone else will chime in. I may have missed it but what CPU are you running? That could be the main issue here. Also, for reinstalling FS9, what I do is copy all the files off the discs into ONE folder on your hard drive. That way you have a local folder on your hdd which makes reinstalls very quick. I have also done this for FSX and FSX Acceleration. Additionally, why not have both FS9 and X? I have both, however I fly X about 90% of the time.I don't know about the 1/3 of the HDD suggestion. It that's true I'm failing epically LOL. My 250GB is really full. I only have 40GB free. I use Ultimate Defrag and use the Name defrag option, using high performance which puts the FSX/scenery files on the outer platters of the hdd. It seems to work fine for me. Generally I run 30fps locked using the FSX FPS limiter application (link here: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?s=&...&p=1551461). But I only fly in rural areas with payware GA. Almost never in busy areas with FPS intensive acft such as Flight1 Citation Mustang or LvlD 767. When I do that I get 10-12 fps.Oh I forgot to ask if you've read through this post, RE FSX tweaking?:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041 | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
