February 10, 201016 yr I'm wanting to take the satellite imagery of my town and surrounding area and make it into a highly detailed bgl scenery file(s).I downloaded the hugh files (some 1 gig or more, per county from this government site)http://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov/The main file has an extension of SID and there are a few smaller files in the zip.Can someone point me to a link or a tutorial or give me some quick basic steps and tools needed to make bgls from this ?Thanks
February 10, 201016 yr Hello:Currently 2 threads down in the Topics list here at the AVSIM MSFS Scenery Design Forum: :( http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=274900Also see the referenced link to FSDeveloper for more detailed info on use of Mr. Sid imagery formats; it is generally easier IMHO, to convert Mr. Sid to GeoTiff for purposes of making FSX photo-realistic custom land class scenery.http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthrea...t=GeoTiff+toolsAdditionally, one may need to edit and/or color-match adjacent tiles before processing the Geo-Tiffs, so one needs to export/import Ge-Rectification info:GeoTIFF file creation with FwTools http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?...on_with_FwToolshttp://fwtools.maptools.org/or:GeoTiffExaminer: http://www.mentorsoftwareinc.com/FREEBIE/FREE0699.HTMhttp://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthrea...t=GeoTiff+toolsThen one can color match with one of these methods:How to quickly color correct raw sattelite images?: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?p=121170Hope these ideas help ! :( GaryGB
