Question on "generating file indexes" on startup

Featured Replies

About 2 months ago I reinstalled Windows XP and FSX. As part of the reinstall of FSX I had to add many scenery areas to FSX scenery library (MegaScenery X, Megascenery earth and other areas). All areas installed correctly, I see no problems. However, each time I restart FSX, it goes through (1) Completing Setup: Generating scenery file indexes , and (2) Building Data Base for new scenery files. My question is why does it have to do these two steps each time I restart FSX? I don't remember it doing this before my total reinstall. These steps add time to the restart time. Do you this this is normal? Thanks, jim

I would check the scenery.cfg and make sure there is no corruption and all scenery you have installed are there. Best regards,Jim
