ASE and User Account Control (UAC)

Featured Replies

A few days ago I upgraded from ASA to ASE. (Thank you, HiFi, for the free upgrade. I've been a customer since ASV, and it's appreciated.) So far so good, except that every time I launch ASE I have to click ok on the UAC warning. I didn't have to do that for ASA, so I'm guessing this can be finessed. What do I need to do?I'm running Windows 7/64. I know some people loathe UAC and disable it completely. I think it serves a purpose, so I don't.

There are a couple of things you can try... launch ASE as Administrator, and/or turn UAC down a notch if you don't want to turn it off completely.DJ

Thanks for those suggestions. I already have UAC set just one notch above "Never notify"; any farther and it's off altogether. I also tried setting the properties for ASA_Exec.exe to "Run as administrator" for all users. It still gives the UAC message, "Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?" A little below this it says, "Publisher: Unknown," with Unknown in bold.

The property setting still won't give full admin permissions... have you tried right clicking and selecting 'run as adminstrator'?DJ
