July 30, 200322 yr Hi Folks,First of all....... I really like FS9! While it has some teething problems I think it's a great improvement overall especially on my lower end system (Dell PIII, 1 gig, 512 mb ram, Asylum GeForce 4 Ti4200 64 mb). Now on to the water issue. One of my main concerns with FS9 when I first tried it concerned the color and texture of the water. Much too light and unreal. When I flew along the coast of Chicago at dusk the water looked terrible! Here's the simple solution: turn "water effects" off. That's it. Now the color is a reasonable blue.Hope this helps,Howard
August 1, 200322 yr The only reason the water is the color that it is, is because it reflects the color and luminosity of the sky (with water effects enabled). If you want "FS2002'ish" looking water, turn your water effects to Off and set the detail texture settings to Land & Water. You get animated water textures but you lose the reflectivity and water caustics, but you see the underlying base texture which is a much deeper blue.
