Question about EZDOK

Featured Replies

For those of you who've purchased EZDOK... a few basic questions: How easy is it to use this program out of the box (download)? Is there a significant set up time or learning curve? Are there automatic settings that can be enjoyed while one learns the various intricacies of the program? Are there special considerations that must be made during the setup if one is running Windows 7 64 bit? How "quirky" is the 1st version of this program, and is it already in need of an update or fix? I'm sure there are other details I haven't asked, but I was just curious about these basic concerns I have.Stan

Guess you'd have to check the Flight 1 site to know about Windows 7 or Vista compatibility, I'm currently using FSX on an XP-equipped desktop.EZDOK is simple to use, you download it, install it, when you read the manual about how to install it, and it tells you to temporarily disable your joystick hat switch and keyboard camera panning assignments so they don't clash with it, you do that, then EZDOK scans your aircraft folder and adds itself to the config files for your installed aircraft automatically (which means if you install a new aircraft later on, you'd have to do that again). When you fire up FS, you can access EZDOK from the addon menu where FSUIPC also appears, from there you can customise it and reassign your joystick hat switch to pan the views, as well as tweak the settings if you like, but even if you do not tweak anything if runs right off the bat and has custom camera views as well as the head shaking effect. So in short, you actually don't really have to tweak anything to get it running if you don't want to.Al

Thanks.I guess if I don't have my Joystick USB plugged in, that would be the same as disabling it. I don't use Camera Panning assignments in FSX. I work exclusively with my Microsoft FF2 Joystick.Stan

I have the MS FF2 joystick and that works well. To explain a little more from the explanations above, you do NOT disable your joystick, just the Hat switch. It will work great again once you turn on EZDoz in FSX. EZDoz does work in Windows 7 64 bit and the developers are trying to make it easier and easier to use and more compatible. I think the most difficult problem with it is the language issue as some explanations from the developer are sometimes confusing. You can download the manual on the product page and see what you have to do but once you have disabled the view settings for the keyboard and hat switch, you simply start up FSX as normal and then hit the Num3 key to activate it and Num3 key to deactivate. Right away you'll see a dramatic display of headshaking and aircraft shaking effects with just the default settings. Turn on weather and it's even more so. I'm not too concerned with compatibility with Windows 7 or Vista, but compatibility with the middle button of the mouse as clicking, and holding that button down will allow you to move all over the cockpit and move in closer and further away and make autopilot changes, etc., but that's not always working for me and the developers are working on it. I'm still having some issues but, as I stated before, I strongly believe it's a language barrier rather than a technical issue. More and more people are buying this and putting their advice and recommendations on the EZDoz forum so I'm understanding it more and more. Unfortunately the weather here has jumped up into the 60's and the golf courses are all opening again so I'm having less and less time to spend on FSX. :( Best regards,Jim
