Where did my kneeboard go?

Featured Replies

This is probably an easy fix, but I can't seem to get it right.I can longer see my FS2004 KNEEBOARD. When I push the button on my CH Yoke to bring it up I hear the "click" that it usually makes when the kneedboard first appears...and repeated presses also cause more clicks (as they do when the different pages on the kneeboard are usually displayed). However, the Kneeboard doesn't show up on the monitor screen! My guess is that it somehow got buried behind some other FS screen? Can anyone help me find it so that I can use it again? Thanks,Mike

Rather than beat your brains out trying to find a cause, you may wish to use the nuclear option, delete FS9 CFG file and start fresh. If using FSUIPC make sure you assign the right command, and delete all FS9 assignments to insure there are no conflicts between FS9 and FSUIPC. If that does not work or before the NUKE option assign a different cmd not being used to your CH yoke button to see if that CMD works. This is assuming that you have not been fiddling w/ FS9 files and accidentally removed a key component somewhere. MAKE A BACKUP OF CFG BEFORE NUKING IT. DID YOU add anything to FS9 prior to losing your kneeboard ? IF so remove it and then see what happens. You may also wish to add more detailed info. as the xperts out there may see something right away which will clear up your problem. At least w/ the nuke opition, you can remove alot of possible causes and narrow it down.

It's probably there, just off the visible screen area as a result of kneeboard coordinates from a saved flight that are not compatible with your selected screen resolution. If the kneeboard coordinates are coming from your default flight, the problem will persist with any flight that you begin from the "Create a flight" screen. I'm assuming your probably running in full screen mode, so drop to windowed mode, drag the kneeboard back to the middle of the screen and then return to full screen.Jim

Hi Jim,Actually I'm flying in windowed mode (4 monitors......3 - 21".. using TH2Go [for views] and 1 - 22" [immediately below the center view monitor] for GPS, ATC and panels, etc.). All are within the expanded desktop via Windows display settings.I have moved the individual windows and just can't seem to located the Knee board. Yet, when I click the button I know it is activated (somewhere?).??????Mike

Hello,

(4 monitors
Maybe you need one monitor more for see the kneeboard ? :( Regards.bye.gifGus.

Well I know next to nothing about multi-monitors but it sure sounds like the kneeboard is there but out of view. It happened to me a lot when I was loading saved flights from a VA I tried out a few years ago. Same symptoms you're experiencing where you can hear it but you can't see it.I used to edit the .FLT files with Notepad to fix the saved flights, you might give this a try. Should be about the 5th or 6th section down. One of mine looks like this:[Kneeboard]PageId=3Visible=FalseLocation=345, 262The "Location=" line is what you're after. Try changing it to "Location=100, 100" which (on a single monitor) would theoretically put the upper left corner of the kneeboard 100 pixels from the left edge of the screen and 100 pixels down from the top edge. Save it, start the sim and load that flight and see if you can find the kneeboard.I hope it works out for you, but beyond the above I wouldn't know what to suggest regarding your multi-monitor setup.Good luck,Jim

Hey Jim.....got it solved. Had to click ALT+Enter to go back from windowed mode to full screen for each aircraft.....I then clicked ALT+ Enter again to go back to windowed mode and the Kneeboard showed up (but all the other windows that I had previously placed in various positions and saved with specific aircraft now moved together in their "Docked" modes. I right clicked on each of these, chose "Undock" and voila.......they returned automatically to where I had saved them in the first place. Finally, I was able to drag the Kneeboard to where I wanted it positioned........then I SAVED the situation (overwriting the previous save). It took awhile and trial and error to figure it out.......but now I know what to do. I hope this will help others who may have the same issue. Thanks for your feedback.R/Mike
