March 18, 201016 yr Man this is old (just getting back into FS9 now)......you know you are sitting there plane spotting at a major airport and on final you see what appears to be a big, glowing ball of white fire. Oh wait, there's something in the middle! And it's not until it's almost on top of you that you realize that this weiner wrapped in a big, glowing gas ball is actually supposed to be a plane coming in with its landing lights on.Not all the aircraft in my line-up do it, but the handfull that do makes it totally unreleastic and annoying. I know a 737 with winglets does it as I watched it go by. My catch here - is there a fix? IWith the utility I have I can scan aircraft files for keywords so is there something in the aircraft .cfg file to look for and have it poit to another haol texture or something?I have tried some files, no luck. certain planes remain untouched - nicks_lightfix_v2.zip looked perhaps promising but alas, it's only been going on a year here at Avsim and a lot of the files I get the redundant "-Oops!" error which is why I resort to Flightsim instead. They don't have it either, but then again I don't know if this would fix my problem. If it DOES fix EVERYTHING (ac landing light wise) across the board does somebody perhaps have the zip file?Has anybody had any success in getting rid of this annoying feature? If it means going into each individual .cfg file and altering it, so be it so long as it WORKS! All of my other lights airport and otherwise look great. I'm just interested in getting rid of the few "gas balls on approach" glitches I have. Thanks again fellow pilots and pilettes!
March 18, 201016 yr Hi,There are two types of landing lights - those that are defined in the Lights section of the plane's aircraft.cfg file, and those that are defined in the model (MDL) itself. For the first type you can change those with Nick's lights, etc. For the second type there is nothing you can do (AFAIK) except find another plane. These tend to be the ones with the big glow balls.Hope this helps, Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
