Removing autogen

Featured Replies

Hi all,In FSX I wish to remove the industrial containers that show up as autogen in the Rotterdam harbor area since these seem to drag down my FPS tremendously. I have found topics about using the autogen annotator, but these are more about placing autogen correctly aligned with a custom photoreal texture. However, for just removing these containers, how should I go about doing that? I have the FSX Deluxe version and hence the SDK installed on my computer. Thanks,

Best regards,

Hi Alex,I suspect those containers aren't autogen but rather custom placed objects. There's a file named "Rotterdam.bgl" in \Scenery\EURW\scenery, try renaming that to Rotterdam.OFF. Doing so might also remove other custom objects from the area though so that would be a trade-off. The alternative is to use a tool like SBuilderX or ADE to place local object exclude polygons in the harbor and that way suppress the display of specific objects.Cheers, Holger

Thanks for your quick reply Holger! However, the trick does not seem to work; it has only removed Rotterdam's landmarks but it did nothing to the containers. I have SbuilderX installed on my computer though I have never come to use it, so I'll try if I can find the cvxxx.bgl that is responsible for this and perhaps I can edit it with this program.. Any other suggestions are more than welcome of course :)EDIT: hm it does not seem to work like I thought it would

Hi Alexander,in that case the harbor ojects are probably in one of the OBX*.bgl files in \Scenery\0601\scenery and you're better off placing the excludes. The CVX files only contain polygon and vector data not any of the object placements. Also, SBuilderX doesn't allow direct editing of compiled cvx files. What you can do is append object bgl files in SBuilderX, including the OBX files. Thus, you could use SBuilderX to find the correct OBX file, import it, create an exclude that covers its area so that all default objects are removed, and then edit and compile your new project. For specific questions about SBuilderX I recommend visiting FSDeveloper: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=33Cheers, Holger

The "industrial containers"?The 4 ships?if so, the obx file# for that region is 4913, assuming they are in the objects file. The precise locations for excludes you can get from the info lines in the sim when you are directly over the ship or whatever objects you are referring to. Loyd

I was referring to the industrial containers. It is indeed 4913, but found that by far not all containers are in shown in this file.. I hoped that I would be able to just make a large exclude area so that I could only exclude the industrial container type of autogen, but I have not found such an option yet. The options that I did run into remove all the autogen or all objects in the exclude area and I don't want to end up with a completely empty environment.
