Wing Leveler/Yaw Damper Question

I hope this comes under the panel and gauge area! When I have either the Yaw Damper or Wing Leveler function activated, I am unable to make any corrections in heading...It seems that these functions are simply another Hdg Hold...I did notice that there is a setting in the aircraft.cfg that allows one to change the settings for the Yaw Damper...Would that make any difference and , if so, what would be a good setting?...Also, while I'm at it, should there be a wing Leveler entry in the aircraft.cfg setting also?
