March 29, 201016 yr let me see if i got this right.1st I uninstall FSX completley, then i install Microsoft 2005 Redistributable's. then i try to load fsx again? No, no, no! What I am saying is you probably do not have the "Redistributable" that reads OLD programs like FSX that was programmed in C+C+C+, etc., and then installs it properly in Windows 7. You can check in your ADD/REMOVE programs to see if the 2005 Redistributable's and run your Windows Update program to make sure these programs are up-to-date. If it is there, then I am wrong in my assumption that FSX installed improperly. You won't have to uninstall/reinstall as something else is wrong. If you do uninstall FSX and try to reinstall it, it is advisable to check your directories and make sure all FSX folders have been deleted, including the one in My Documents and the ones in your USER folders as FSX does not usually delete these folders once FSX is uninstalled. I would then run a registry cleaner (free) to make sure everything about FSX is gone and then reinstall FSX (Gold). Make sure any anti-virus program is turned off during the installation (not really necessary but it could be the problem so you want to discount that issue). There's another possibility that I'm checking regarding the uiautomation.dll and will post as soon as I research.Best regards,Jim
March 29, 201016 yr As promised, here's a link to a post regarding the uiautomation.dll: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=279225&hl. Please go to the last post from Shane Gavin who provides excellent guidance for installing fsx with further links to resolve issues like a missing dll. Hope this helps.Jim

It is not your problem. Someone recommended turning off UAC and you stated you did not know anything about UAC. UAC has to be turned off so that FSX can "trust" your gauges and put the trusted gauges in the Trusted section of your FSX.cfg. If you are not familiar with UAC or how to turn it off, go to your Help and Support section and type in UAC. Select the 4th item - How to turn UAC on or off and it will then provide you with step by step actions to take to turn it off. Now, when you start FSX, you should receive popups stating whether you want to trust a gauge or another FSX file and you should state YES. Before restarting FSX though, I recommend you delete the FSX.cfg then restart FSX and let FSX rebuild the config. Not to worry. We'll get this one figured out. Happy Easter.Best Regards,Jim
