Installation issues + graphical issue

Featured Replies

Hello,I recently purchased the PMDG MD-11. During the installation, I was prompted to allow the MS C++ 2008 package install. However, I have FSX+addons on a different drive to my system files, and it seems as though the installation program has installed the C++ package to my FSX drive (hard to tell - I am not sure if they are the actual package files or just setup files which are OK to delete, I've attached a screenshot to the post). Is it possible to uninstall it and re-install it to a different drive? Or will I experience issues with the MD11 addon? Also, after the installation had finished, I did not get a confirmation screen saying the installation had been completed succesfully, as I normally do. Is this a problem? Finally, when I use the aircraft in FSX and do anything to switch to the desktop (alt+tab for example), or access the in game menu, I cannot get back into the simulation successfully. When I try, I get a blank screen, which does not go away.I'd greatly appreciate any help.Odai Koukash.

Hiya Odai, You can uninstall them in add remove programs, then reinstall them. It doesn't matter what folder you install them to and shouldn't interfere with anything. Since you're going to do that anyway you might as well check install all the latest. If you run a 64 bit OS, you want to install C++ 2005 (32 bit and 64) as well as both for 2008. You can find them here.FSX and Alt+Tab doesn't work because of a windows bug (not video driver, or PMDG, or FSX) it is an issue between FSX & Windows,,, at least according to nVidia.Use Alt+Enter. It will change you from full screen to windowed mode however, this switch can for whatever reason lower your FPS and FSX performance. If I start FSX in windowed mode, all is 100% great, same if I start in Full screen, but for some reason after doing the swap back and forth I lose a substantial amount of FPS. I honestly think that is due to my setup and resolution and perhaps a bug with my matrox box, as I never experienced it before.Alternatively, you can still use Alt+Tab to get out but to get back in you'll have to use Task manager and highlight FSX and choose "Switch Task".

Hello,Thank you for your very helpful reply. However, I am experiencing a problem. I tried to uninstall using the install.exe file in the directory where the files where placed, but it only got rid of about half of them. The EULA text files and a bunch of cab/cfg files remained. I simply deleted those, would that be an issue? Also, when I try to reinstall the package, it automatically extracts and installs to the D drive, even if I open it from the C drive. :(
