Virus Question

Featured Replies

My sister developed a problem with her computer and wondering if it could be virus related.Whenever she tries to open up Internet Explorer v6, a green bar appears at the top of her screen and the computer locks up. The same thing happens whenever she tries to open a document file. She can open up Outlook Express and other applications, but those two locks up her computer. This sounds like some form of virus. However a virus check comes up clean. Any thoughts?Gateway P3 700, 128M RAM Windows 98SE.Brent

Brent, sounds to me like she has a corrupted executable that is shared in Windows office. She should probably remove and re-install. That is, if the virus sig files are up to date and still showing now infections.

Remove and reinstall IE 6.0 or Windows Office or both?It started after she scanned a picture of a family member. I told her that's what blew up her computer. :(Brent

My sister found the problem with her Zone Alarm settings. Everything is working well. I am glad it wasn't the picture of a family member. Brent
