April 14, 201016 yr Hi there,This happens so, so often, and I have put up with it, but it does rather spoil things and I wondered if anyone (Jim?) has any ideas. Before starting FS9 I start up AS6.5 and in offline mode I load one of my many downloaded wx files. As usual, the final description in the 'decoded' window of AS6 bears little relation to what I see in FS9, but I gave up worrying about that ages ago (no amount of troubleshooting ever helped). What is rather annoying is demonstrated by these screenshots. The first shows how FS9 and the AS6 window looks once AS6 finishes its weather update and FS9 is fully loaded. The second the same about 30 seconds later. As you see, the information in the decoded window is never correct (Visibility, cloud cover..). But waht I would like to stop happening is my skies changing from the first screenshot to the second. This happens very often and with any of the wx files I load into AS6. Why do the skies suddenly change to overcast like this? I also post my ini file.(Sorry the AS6 window is a bit small - legible after zooming in (Vis is marked as 2SM, Cloud and Precip None). Thanks,Martin ----------------------------------First this (nice enough):Which will change to this:ASv6.ini file://ASv6.5 configuration file Build 552[General]WindowPosX = 33390WindowPosY = 2670DefaultWeatherFolder = D:\Flight Simulator 2004\Modules\ASv6\Weather Data Files\SuppressionCeiling = 18000SurfaceWindLimit = 0FS9Path = D:\Flight Simulator 2004\PersonalAppDataFolder = C:\Documents and Settings\Martin\Application Data\CloudLayerLimit = 3LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 8MaximumVisibility = 80AutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = 25DefaultStartupLocation = EGLLDefaultGraphicsFullTheme = DefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = AutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = FalseIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseGEProAutoSubmit = TrueUseFetchedStationforGEPro = TrueShowDecodedMBasDecimal = FalseSkyOverride = GEPROFavorCumulus = TrueForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = TrueDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = TrueAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseEnableGEProWideFSMode = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = TrueEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = TruePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = FalseExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = TrueGlobalWrites = TrueDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = FalseUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = FalseIgnoreFSReadyStatus = FalseFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = TrueLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 1AloftPredictability = 90WindDriftRate = 60MaxCloudThickness = 8000MinStratusSeparation = 8000TAFProcessing = TrueEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = FalseDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONELastPlanFolder = C:\Documents and Settings\Martin\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files\ Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
April 15, 201016 yr Hi,It is not a problem, but that is the was FS renders low visibility. It would look this way if you used FS weather, set up your own low visibility weather, or used another weather program. If you don't care for this look you can limit the minimum visibility on the AS Options Screen with the Minimum Visibility box and have Enforce Visibility Limits checked On. Re-start AS and FS in order to have the new settings take place in FS! You have things set at 8 SM so try 10 SM.
April 15, 201016 yr Author Hi Jim,Hope all is well with you..Maybe I am misconstruing this, but with Min Visisbility set to 8 in AS6, would 10 really make that much difference, to the cloud cover I mean - it's the frequency with which the initial blue skies with clouds (even though AS6 shows clouds as 'none', but that's another issue, as I say) changes to dull (in all senses!), grey overcast conditions that is the 'problem'.Is it that, by coincidence', so many of my downloaded wx files have overcast conditions? If so, maybe I need to edit some of them - though as you may remember (it was a couple of years ago) you sent me some of your edited wx files and many just didn't show the way they were supposed to in FS9. We never found out why.Meanwhile I will try increasing the MinVis setting in AS6 and see what happens..Thanks Jim,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
