Did you (by any chance) install any 'shader' mods lately? or a new swarmcloud.fx file in your shader folder? the only explanation I havefor those screenshots is that you installed a modified swarmcloud.fx in your shader folder and forgot the ALLOW_SHADER_30=1 line in the [GRAPHICS] section.

Alternatively have you installed any new cloud textures recently? If you have, try restoring the defaults and see what happens.

This might work to help with (but maybe not cure) those blocky clouds. Do this: Go 'World' then 'Weather' then ck bullet is on 'User Defined' and then go 'Custom' then 'Advanced' and DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING but just do 'OK', 'OK', 'OK' (3 ok's) to back out of there and go see if there is any improvement. When I first load FSX I always have those 'imposter' clouds (dark gray blobs) showing. After I do the above they are GONE. Don't ask me to explain it. Maybe ******* can enlighten us as to what this 'really' does or what gets 're-set'. But do remember you heard it here first (and who told you-ha).CBNapamule

Delete the following lines from your fsx.cfg:SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=9872430SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED_10=1693458478SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=1693458478and try again. If it doesn't work, try deleting the cache manually. its in %AppData%\Local\Microsoft\FSX\Shaders

Try it.But it appears you swarmcloud.fx file is missing or corrupted. (DX10 uses another one called swarmcloud40.fx) What kind of Video card you have?

Try reverting the clouds to Shader model 1.1 (as they were originally) to do that, simply go to the Shaders backup folder you made, and look inside misc, take the swarmcloud.fx file you'll find there and copy it to your current ShadersHLSL folder (inside misc too)then, delete the shader cache and try again if this doesn't work, then you have some weird problem I've not seen before. See the poster who recommends you to change something in the weather screen.

informis,Looks like you have duplicate line: 'HIGHMEMFIX=1'. Don't know what that would do to your 'clouds' but it's no correct. Just pointing it out.CBNapamule
