Raising an old topic - Checkrides

Featured Replies

I have been flying reasonably well for a number of years, and thought I'd try out the old PPL checkride, which I couldn't get near to completing. I've seen lots of postings about the precision required and it IS possible, as you can see from various Youtube postings. I'm just wondering whether any members have tried the checkride lately, and what they think. My views are that it IS probably more rigid than in real life, bearing in mind the discrepencies of control settings that are possible in flightsim, and requires tremendous concentration to get the figures exactly on the dot. If you had to apply such concentration in real life flying, I guess it wouldn't be much fun. Not being a real pilot I don't know, but would imagine that the plane would respond more easily to what you want it to do. I find more value in FSFLyingSchool, which keeps you on your toes and continually monitors your flight, and I certainly polished up my skills with this package.So.... any more thoughts on this one?Stan

they are useless as far as im concerned. they are passable, but they dont really help all that much.
