Ctrl-Q and Eypoint in 2D

I have read every post on eyepoint, and I can't find the answer to this question...The key combo of Ctrl+Q raises the eyepoint in the 2D panel just fine...But (and there's always a but) it won't stay there...When I use several of my controls or change viewpoints, when I return to the panel it is back up where it started...Is there a way to permanently set the eyepoint in 2D panels? Thanks a lot...Steve
