May 19, 201016 yr A few weeks ago, after a "routine" hard drive failure, I asked my local techshop to give me a few quotes on pretty much a complete system re-build. Now I must point out that I have absolutely zero knowledge of the technical side of pc's therefore any little problem that occurs means more business for them. Thing is, I'm not patient enough nor do I have a great enough love for all things pc to try and learn that side of things. All I want from my machine is - amongst other things - to be able to experience FS9 with most - if not all - sliders "maxed out" without having to watch a slide-show, something I have yet to see. As far as I am aware I don't use many addons that are too heavy on the old FPS though someone might just disagree with that. I have the usual suspects hanging about: Level-D, PMDG 737, 737 PIC, 50N, plus the various freeware models out there, then in terms of scenery it's mostly UK2000 Xtreme, FlyTampa. No weather program (as yet) though. I'd say that I average between 10-20FPS until I come within proximity of a busy airfield. It then drops to below 10FPS more often than not. I've had my current pc since 2005 and the spec is as follows: ASUS A8V Deluxe, AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8GHz, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9600.Just to give you an example of my ineptitude, it has taken me about 15mn to find the above data. The most worrying aspect is that it's all gibberish to me. I've been quoted slightly in excess of

May 19, 201016 yr Thanks for the reply Bob. One last query. Would those graphics cards be able to handle a weather program like ActiveSky on top of what I've already mentioned? Greg.

Greg.Yep...ActiveSky 6.5 is the best wx program ever made for any variant of FS--I used it in FS9 back when I was still running a Pentium IV.CheersBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
