Looking for a new card

Featured Replies

I got my new system back in March it's a Studio 540 with Intel Duo Core @ 2.93gHz slightly overclocked to 3.0gHz, 2.0GB DDR2 RAM, and sadly I must admit I did not splurge on the graphics card and I am currently running an Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset. For an integrated graphics chip it runs surprisingly well but as I am reinstalling addons into FS I do end up with frames in the low teens at busy airports with high levels of scenery. In addition texture loading times are average at best. So now I am looking into a new graphics card (not too snazzy) possibly a 9600 GT 512 MB card. It runs on a PCIe port (I have PCIe slots) but all the listings state it is DDR3. Is this a problem? Are there any other recommended cards? Thanks Alex

The type of RAM on the video card is a non-issue.I think a 9800GT or a 260GTX would be better choices, assuming the power supply can handle it.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

Thanks for the advice on the RAM that had me stumped on what to do. I think the 9800 GT is what will suit my needs. Thanks!Alex
