Speed card for landing

Featured Replies

I understand the speed card for take off as their is only icing / non icing values. However I'm a bit lost when it came to set the speed for landing as there is much more value..Here is an exemple, my load sheet shows 18732 lbs at landing :JS41-1.jpgSo I take the speed card, set it for 19000 lbs and here what are the values i am supposed to enter and in which order (i.e. which value for which color)JS41.jpgThanks in advanceArnaud de Saint Hilaire

Arnaud,First, you need to decide whether the landing is going to be in icing conditions (or if there will be residual ice accretions on the airframe). If so, use the "ICE AOA ON" speeds.Second, you need to decide what flap setting you're going to use for landing. Flaps 25 is normal, Flaps 15 is usually used if you're single-engine, and Flaps 0 is an abnormal condition. So assuming a normal landing in non-icing conditions, you go to the Flaps 25 line of the "LANDING" table and enter the following speeds:Magenta = Vt (121)Blue = Vref (106)White = V2 (107)Green = Vyse (121)Cycle back so the Magenta value is displayed above the speed tape on the PFD for reference during approach. Fly Vt until about 200ft, then begin reducing speed to arrive over the threshold at Vref (Blue bug).In the event of a go around, the white V2 bug provides additional situational awareness, and if the approach was single-engine (or if an engine fails during approach) the green Vyse bug displays the single-engine best-rate speed in the event of a go-around.
